The 2006 Work Outline of China’s Ministry of Information Industry (MII) shows that MII will focus on cracking down on illegal mobile phone short messages this year.

MII says it will regulate the short message charging behaviors of wireless value-added service providers. In particular, MII will focus on media-related businesses like radio programs, television stations, newspapers and websites, that send messages.

MII soon plans an intensive check of virtual webhisting hosting providers to ensure that webservers are duly licensed to operate in China.

Finally, MII says that it will implement a telephone real name registration system at an appropriate time, if possible.
