Japan’s NTT Corporation Opens Free Wireless Service In China During Olympics

Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation will offer free wireless Internet access to its users in six Chinese cities during the Olympics in August 2008.

NTT Corporation says that from August 1, 2008 to August 31, 2008, the company will offer new overseas roaming services to its contracted wireless network users. The new roaming service will cover six cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Shenyang, Qingdao and Qinhuangdao, along with Beijing Capital International Airport, Qingdao Liuting Airport and Qinhuangdao Airport. Wireless users of NTT Corporation are able to gain Internet access at more than 900 Wi-Fi hotspots in these areas.

According to a representative from the service department of the NTT Corporation, customers who have signed contracts on any one of the three wireless network services, including Hot spot, Open plan and Open plan/Light, with the company will be able to enjoy the free high-speed Internet surfing in August 2008 without first completing an application.
